Afew years ago, I never saw the difference between "Systems of records" Vs. "Systems of engagement". As a technologist, I built Systems of records. They were core to the business and usually is database driven, transactional systems that could only handle structured data. ERP, CRM, EMR and Document Management Systems belong to the category of Systems of records. One of the harsh truth about Systems of records is that they are only good as the data you feed into them. I observed that valuable knowledge worker time is spent on repetitive data entry and mundane tasks such as filing and searching for information and documents.

For example in healthcare, I saw clinicians spend more than 50% of their time on administrative tasks involved with disjointed EMR systems and maintaining clinical documentation on paper records. In banking and finance, I saw knowledge workers spend a major part of their working hours on filing, organising, storing and retrieving documents related to various customer-centric business processes.  

I saw a paradigm shift in data growth from mostly structured, to mostly unstructured, Organisations generate 90% of unstructured data via inbound emails and document-based communications with their customers, suppliers, partners and employees. Due to its unstructured nature, it is difficult for organisations to gain insight from it using conventional Systems of records. Seeing this challenge over the years lead me to focus on a technology that helps organisations to simplify document and information intensive business processes. After working with so many people of over the years, I developed a 5 step recipe in Document Process Automation. With this framework, DCE has helped several leading Australian organisations in regulated industries to succeed in their digital transformation journey. This includes the mortgage document process automation of Australia's leading Bank and the digital medical records solution of Victoria's largest regional digital hospital.

Over the years DCE worked with several health industry thought leaders and developed DC2Vue care coordination software platform for hospital and community health service providers which is currently used to serve community mental health patients across Victoria's Loddon Mallee region.
